Stan Wawrinka Withdrew from 2021 US Open Tennis

The US Open organization announced on Monday, that the 2016 winner Stan Wawrinka will not participate in the 2021 US Open Grand Slam due to his foot surgery.


Stan Wawrinka ranked three in the world ranking table as he has recorded 44-13 in the final major of the season. Five years ago, he lifted his third Grand Slam trophy in Flushing Meadows, defeating the world number one Novak Djokovic in the final,


Wawrinka has made at least the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open in six of the past nine games. In his most recent performance two years ago, he reached the final eight and then lost to the finalist Daniel Medvedev.


 Since the Doha competition, the Swiss star has not participated in a game. After Wawrinka withdrew, former world number one and 2012 champion Andy Murray entered the US Open 2021 main draw.
