On Monday, 30 August 2021, the USTA Foundation will host its 20th annual Opening Night Gala. Due to the COVID-19 Opening Night Gala was not held in 2020. The USTA Foundation is pleased to tribute to its former chairman of the board of directors and one of the foundation’s most enthusiastic supporters, Tom Chen, for his continued commitment to the principles and ideals of the USTA Foundation. He won the "Service Dream Award" for leadership, support and dedication.

Original nine will receive the Foundation’s Trailblazer Award because 2020 is the 50th anniversary of this group of nine female tennis players signing a $1 agreement to initiate what we know today as women’s professional tennis. The first nine players who protested against the inequality of prize money in the men's and women's games included Julie Heldman, Valerie Ziegenfuss, Judy Dalton, Kristy Pigeon, Peaches Bartkowicz, Kerry Melville, Nancy Richey, Rosie Casals, and Billie Jean King.
