Roger Federer is also absent, but this year's surgery on both knees saved him from the trouble. Nick Kyrgios has consistently taken the Coronavirus seriously, and has shown the courage of his convictions and stepped back.


The past champion Stan Wawrinka, world no. 9 Gael Monfils, world no.11 Fabio Figgnini and Flushing Meadows favorite Juan Martin Del Potro also withdrawn from the competition

.
On the women’s side also the no. 1 Ashleigh Barty will not play because of safety reasons. World no. 5 Elina Svitolina and World no. 7 Kiki Bertens is also absent.


Barbora Strycova, who entered the Wimbledon semi-finals last year, also withdraw from the competition. 2004 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and former Australian Open champion Sam Stowe, Sam Stosur also out from the competition.
